Stoopi is a smart location-based platform for buying and selling second-hand goods in a hassle-free way. It connects people who want to give away or sell items with those looking to pick them up nearby, making reuse simple and sustainable.

Overview

Stoopi offers a unique way to exchange unwanted goods by combining community-driven sharing with precise location tracking. Users can post items directly from their homes, while buyers can explore them through maps, listings, or swipe cards for a quick view. The app ensures transparency by allowing pickups only within 100m of the item’s location, reducing conflicts and ensuring fairness. Once marked as picked up, items are instantly removed from the listing for others. With smart filters, users can expand their search range and discover more items nearby. Stoopi also includes a leaderboard that rewards users based on items picked and posted, encouraging active participation. Personalized notifications keep users updated according to their preferences, creating a seamless and engaging second-hand marketplace experience.

Challenges

The Stoopi team faced challenges in creating an intuitive interface for easy uploads and browsing, handling large image files without slowing performance, managing real-time geolocation data efficiently, building user trust, and ensuring the app could scale with growing data and users.

How Does Stoopi Work?

Stoopi is a platform where users can give away items they no longer need and connect with others looking for them. Users can swipe through items in the feed to like or dislike them, making the process of browsing quick and interactive. When a user likes an item, it’s added to their profile, and they can contact the uploader to arrange a pickup. In addition to the simple exchange of items, Stoopi features a leaderboard where users earn points for uploading and claiming items. This gamified system encourages active participation, fostering a competitive and engaging community, while promoting sustainability and reducing waste.
